Location
Thallon State School is a vibrant, two-teacher rural primary school located 78 kilometres south of St George, nestled within the Balonne Cluster. Our school enjoys a rich and long-standing partnership with the local communities of Thallon, Daymar, and surrounding properties, as well as the nearby border community of Mungindi. We also maintain strong collaborative connections with neighbouring schools in Bollon, Hebel, Dirranbandi, Begonia, and St George. These partnerships provide our students with a wealth of shared experiences and opportunities to grow both academically and socially.
Our students are at the heart of a diverse community shaped by the wheat, sheep, cattle, and cotton industries. With a small yet dynamic enrolment of approximately 20 children from Kindy to Year 6, we celebrate a mix of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds, including First Nation's students. Our school is supported by an engaged and enthusiastic parent community, strengthening the connection between school and home.
Curriculum
At Thallon State School, we offer a well-rounded curriculum tailored to meet the needs of our multi-aged classes. Our students benefit from a wide range of learning experiences, supported by visiting specialists, including an Instrumental Music teacher, Head of Special Needs, Guidance Officer, Wellbeing Guidance Officer, and Chaplain.
We place a strong emphasis on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), ensuring our students have access to a variety of modern technologies that enhance their learning. Our dedicated and passionate staff work collaboratively to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment where every child is encouraged to thrive.
